Real World Response N

Updated: May 5, 2022

`When reading “Elaine Welteroth, Teen Vogue’s Refashionista” I was very impressed with what she was doing. It is not a secret that when it comes to advertising there is a certain look that is always used, that only represents a small portion of the world and lacks diversity. Not just with advertising but also with careers as we read that Elaine Welteroth was only the second black woman to ever be the chief editor of the magazine. It is inspiring to know that with the position and power she has she is using it to change the standards to create a more diverse and inclusive advertising world. Also it takes a lot of dedication and motivation to change the norm. I have a feeling that in order to put more diversity within vogue she had to do a lot of fighting and people telling her “no” to her ideas. I believe that Elaine is a strong role model and is putting a large impact on the world by pointing out that lack of representation and is starting small with just one magazine to get people's attention. I applaud her for how she is making changes but not in an in your face way but is simply just doing it.
